「Flash Log

Give a to-do a time estimate — if you like. As you work, the actual time is recorded automatically. Keep comparing the gray (estimate) and the blue (actual), and your plans start matching reality. Estimates are optional; the app is just as comfortable without them.
To-do apps count what you'll do. They never tell you how long it actually takes. Flash Log turns that gap — estimate vs. actual — into the tool itself.
"I planned 30 minutes — it took 41." Estimates (gray) and actuals (blue) sit side by side on the same row, so the gap is impossible to miss. See it, adjust, estimate again. That loop trains your sense of time.
Totals roll up per day and per group. You measure your day in hours, not item counts — so "today is already full" becomes visible while you're still planning.
Choose how much time you want to see — loose, guide, or strict. Give a divider a clock time and a group a capacity, and the list can read like a timetable. All optional, of course.
Start a to-do and it takes over the screen. All you see is the one thing and the time — the rest of today stays out of sight, so you can face what's in front of you. The elapsed time ticks quietly, and everything is recorded automatically.
Leave the screen and the mini player, Dynamic Island, and Lock Screen Live Activity keep showing what you're on. Finish one thing, and the next slides in as "up next."
A taste of Flash Log, right on this page. Pick your "just these today" with ⭐️. Add by voice with the red "+" (simulated here — the real app never sends audio off your device). Tap a row to complete it. Then close the day, and the gray meets the blue.
You don't have to try everything. Just the parts that catch your eye.
Don't decide the date yet. Collect things in the bottom tray, then drag them onto today when their day comes.
Your system calendar shows through, read-only — and a lane of actual time can sit beside your plan, so one screen shows how the day really went.
Repeating to-dos appear as light placeholders. Tap the ones you'll actually do. Skipped days never stack up to guilt-trip you.
Star the few things you absolutely want to finish today, and the view narrows to just those. It's the century-old Ivy Lee method — decide on a handful, work them in order — in a single tap. Fewer options mean less hesitation and an easier first step. Put them on a widget, and today's few are always in sight.
A full Apple Watch app: check today's to-dos from your wrist — start, pause, complete. Quick-add by name, and hop to nearby days.
While something runs, the complication counts down like a timer on your watch face, and the Digital Crown dials in your estimate. Your iPhone stays in your pocket.
Today and its progress on your Home and Lock Screens — start, pause, done on the widget itself. A shrinking time ring, and "the one thing" in StandBy.
A full Watch app: check, start, finish, and quick-add from your wrist. The face keeps the remaining time ticking.
Notifications tied to start times — "5 minutes before" or at the planned end. Move the time, and the alert follows.
Morning, work, evening. Time-of-day dividers and groups keep your whole day in one flowing list.
Reorder, move things in and out of groups, between inbox and today — everything by touch.
Opt-in, off by default. Turn it on and your iPhone, iPad, and Mac stay in step — through your iCloud only.
"Add a to-do in Flash Log." Add, start, complete, and even hear your elapsed time — by voice.
Jump straight to a to-do from iPhone search, before the app is even open.
One app across three devices. Multiple windows on Mac.
Hold "+" and speak. "Buy milk, 15 minutes" lands as a name plus an estimate. Recognition never leaves the device.
A one-line note for each day. Add stars and a word to what you finish, and close the day with a small summary.
All your data, out and back in as JSON. Back up freely, move devices freely.
How you spend your time is about as personal as data gets.
Nothing to sign up for. Download it and start.
No ads, no analytics SDKs. Not even the developer can see your records.
Everything lives on your device — voice recognition runs entirely on device too. If you enable sync, it travels through your iCloud only.
A to-do list, left alone, grows without end. So Flash Log puts things on days — and shows you only today's share.
I'm also terrible at estimating. Things I swore would take 30 minutes took two hours, and my plans collapsed with them. Existing apps were great at listing what to do — none told me how unreliable my own "30 minutes" was. When the estimate and the actual sit side by side, you get better, strangely fast.
At the app's heart is the act of running a to-do: start one, and the full-screen view and mini player keep it — and only it — in front of you. Less to hold in your head, more momentum. It works as a GTD inbox, and timeboxing or TaskChute-style workflows fit without the screens ever getting complicated.
Honestly, I built this for myself. I searched for an app that worked this way and never found one, so I made it. If you've been looking for the same thing, I hope it finds you.
